The effect of RSROA skating

In 1937 a group of skating rink operators, decided to unite and make a serious attempt to raise standards and management of sport. Several amateur competitions is encouraged. On April 3, 1937, seventeen players met in Detroit and organized the Roller Skating Rink Operators Association (RSROA) United States. It was established as main objective the promotion of amateur skating.

Perry Rawson, a former trader in New York and amateur figure skater, which had carefully studied International Style and dance figure skating, visited England in 1937 and saw for himself what had been achieved on the reels in that country. When he returned to America, brought Rawson films showing that the international style that was prevalent in the ice, it was possible on the rollers. The screening of these films on the slopes of many of the United States aroused great enthusiasm. In October 1938, James and Joan Lindstone, the British champion, came to America and toured the country, giving exhibitions in many of the main runways. The first national meeting to be sanctioned by the RSROA was the speed skating championship held at the Rollerdrome Sefferino in Cincinnati in 1938. In 1940, figure-dance, and speed skating championships were combined, and a national championship meet all of the services are performed at the Cleveland Public Auditorium. The four-day meeting serves nearly five hundred skaters Fans who participate in all classes of the three branches of sport.

The event was so successful that the composition of the RSROA decided to hold the National Championship in the same auditorium in 1941, when for four days, once again, the audience was full of amateur skaters.
