Tips on Getting Your First Skate Board

Skateboarding is fun and it's most definitely one of the coolest and most popular sporting activities around. More and more people are trying it every day and becoming passionate about it. If you want to become a skater the first thing you need is, you've guessed it, a skate board. Now, any skateboarder knows that the process of choosing a skate board is very important - especially if it is your first skate board, which is arguably the most important of all.

When picking the right skate board, there are a few things you must keep in mind. Firstly, get your skate board from brands you can trust, such as Gravity, Santa Cruz or Sector 9, as they are some of the most reliable and their products are top quality.

Secondly, take some time to carefully think about how much money you're ready to spend on your skateboarding gear and what are your plans concerning this sporting activity. Do you intend to make it more than a hobby or it'll be just an occasional pastime? How often will you be using your skate board? Do you want to learn difficult moves and tricks or just cruise around with your pals from time to time? If you want to become a professional, do you think you have what it takes and are you ready to work for it? These are some of the questions you should ask yourself before purchasing a skate board and the additional skateboarding equipment. Obviously, at first you won't have all the answers, but still it's good to have even a rough idea about what you're going to do.

If you've decided on that, you're ready to start shopping. Skateboards come in different shapes and sizes. The ideal size for your skate board depends on your height and shoe size. For instance, a tall person with big feet should, of course, get a bigger board than someone who is smaller in size.

Another thing to remember is that any skateboarder should wear his safety equipment at all times. So, if you're just starting out, make sure to acquire, along with your skate board, a good helmet, a pair of skateboarding gloves and some Knee Pads, Elbow Pads and wrist pads. A pair of solid Skate Shoes is another thing you might want to buy when you get your skate board - their special design makes them more resistant and they also offer a better grip of the board than regular shoes do. After all this shopping is done, you'll be ready to go and have some fun. But before that, remember to get all the equipment and accessories you might need. This may include, along with the safety equipment and shoes we've already talked about, instructional videos, tools and spare parts for your board, skateboarding clothes and bags etc. If you've already got all this gear, then you'll soon be cruising around on your skate board, having a great time and getting all the excitement skateboarding has to offer.
